Насколько знаю, если highway=crossing, crossing=* уже имеется как точка, то не надо ещё мапить crossing=* на том же highway=footway, footway=crossing.

Разве? Имеется же в виду Мир как World, а не Peace, значит на бел. языке будет Свет, а не Мір.

I stand by the opinion that everything was mapped correctly: Dzierżyńsk as main name:pl, Kojdanów as old_name:pl.

All of this do not matter in terms of OSM. We as OSM mappers do not decide these things. We only reflect the reality. The name of the town does not depend on our subjective opinions. Plus, this old name may confuse some polish speakers, I am sure, since they won't find a town under this name in any maps in Belarus anymore.
