At first, I would kindly appreciate if you changed your tone.
Second: I never do such things arbitrarily, and, at my age, my purpose would certainly not be vandalizing, but improving the map and placing ground truth over theory.
If there is a convention (which I didn't know and I would kindly ask you to direct me to), I would gladly discuss it before making any changes. There are countries where I am still discussing that. There are also quite a lot of countries where those conventions are disregarded by local users and/or outdated.
My aims and guidelines are very clear:
1) leading transit traffic out of the city center. This is something I did in several other countries and it was approved by local communities. Some of them even understood at once this aim, before I even explained it.
Thailand is the perfect example of a country needing such changes IMO: my OSM-based app led me right through city centers where I lost a lot of time, instead of leading me through bypasses (with an inferior OSM classification) It is just as if the M25 around London had a much inferior classification than the A20, A2, A1, etc. Imagine the giant mess this would make while transiting through the London area from Dover to Birmingham.
2) Lead the road exactly as the path on satellite images (which is, many times, not the case in Thailand)
3) Mapping accurately border checkpoints and border areas, so people know until where exactly they can go and, if possible, through which lane(s) they need to go with their vehicle and/or password.

There are 2 questions regarding which I'm not exactly sure what you refer to, but I will try to provide you an accurate reply, although without screenshots it won't be easy:
- Regarding U-turns and their restrictions, I did map them actually. They were initially not mapped (if we are referring to the same ones)
- Regarding any "link" tag ("highway link, primary link, etc.), the only things I tag as "link" (as per OSM Wiki) is ramps. In the case of Thailand, it can also be some left turns.

Well, if I have to be honest I still think the border checkpoint itself, as well as the as well as the road between Tuas West Dr and AYE should have the tag "highway=trunk". :)
Right now, I am trying to figure out exactly how both border checkpoints around the Tuas second link look inside, in order to draw them exactly as they are.

Well, you know :) Singapore used to be my home between 1994 and 1996 :) I've been back there recently for the 1st time 2 months ago.
About the tags: actually I don't know how it used to be, but I add other completely different access tags for the purpose you described above (for instance bus=no, motorcar=designated, etc.). However, I noticed sometimes, the highway=* has influence not only in the routing of OSM and OSM-based maps; but also on users' choice regarding where they want to go. When I changed those tags into "Highway=trunk", it was to clearly show the difference (= yes, it is a main road, no this is not a motorway section).

When I drew that I went there by car two years ago, so I can hardly answer all your questions. Nevertheless, it was a black/white border marker "Latvija/Eesti". To prove I'm right I would have to come back there by car and make Mapillary geolocalization. It won't be for right now as I usually travel between the Baltics by bus, with big groups.

Actually I had mapped this 10 months ago like it looked back then. I haven't crossed there since, so I don't know how it looks like at the moment.

I find a lot of places in Latvia where:
- Roads have been deleted
- Tags have been deleted (which leads solely some untagged line instead of a road)
- In the place of those roads, a lot of untagged points had been added (God knows why).

How can I see it was vandalized? When I zoom out, I see those roads existed before. But when I zoom in, they don't.

I don't know if it was the case of this specific changeset (Here, I think I simply for got to change the description of the changeset because I am also adding or correcting LV protected areas), but if you see I write about "vandalized territories" you have the explanation above.

I added quite a bit of "pushpins" to report those problems in places where I had no time to do that work. I really need help from other users finding such areas in Latvia and correcting them. I am glad you got interested.

Third: don't try to pretend you deleted my data because I was putting wrong names :) I would have never put "Aleksandrówka" to "Trakai". Your requests of making names match phonetically is so absurd that it makes me laugh. So what? Are you going to force Hungarians to call Vienna "Wien" instead of "Bécs" because it doesn't match phonetically?
Your delusion that you are above all OSM and above all laws is absolutely incredible. It won't last long.

First of all, you have no clue what I agreed with the DWG, so don't speak as if you were between them and myself.
Second, you always look for the tiniest little pretext to harass me and if you keep on doing that, this will end in court.
I added name:lv tags which are available on wiki. If you think I should have added additionnally name:lt tags, add them yourself if you are so smart.
You have time to harass people and vandalize data, do something good once in your life.

I remember there was a confusion between Niščanka and Janka. I also think there is a mistake on Wiki, because when I looked at old Polish maps (you can find similar ones at kami.net.pl/kresy), I saw the flow was different at the split point.

When you merge 2 elements, it appears as if you had deleted one. I wouldn't be surprised if you told me a river element appears as "deleted". Well, we are supposed to map facts, not eventualities, and the fact is: border controls are not there on a daily basis, which is why mapping them is not relevant. Otherwise, I would have to map all possible border/customs controls within the Schengen area (and not necessarily at the borders themselves but for instance in cities distant 30-50 or 100km from the border). I mapped some border guard controls within the Belarusian or Lithuanian territory, but it is solely because they are systematic. No exception.
For the routing question, I will give you a very simple example I've encountered with a lot of GPS-es: from Vilnius to Warsaw. In order to stay within the Schengen area, you drive through Alytus, Lazdijai, Augustów, Łomża. However, if you put that "border control tag" at the PL/LT border, it will route you through Druskininkai, Hrodna (Belarus) and Białystok because it is the shortest/fastest route in theory. Problem is: to drive through Belarus, you need a visa, and you need to waste a lot of time at the LT/BY border and the BY/PL border. Moreover, it is not allowed to bring a lot of alcohol nor meat through that border. This means that if you want to drive through Belarus and bring some sausage you will encounter some issues, they will ask you to exit the BY territory to get rid of those goods, etc.
Same if you want to drive from Poland to Romania through Ukraine (except for the visa, but you still need a passport and there are some restrictions).

This changeset was made over a year ago, just the way I saw it "live".
To answer your question: both Hungary and Slovakia are part of the Schengen area. This means there is no *systematic* border control. If you map a border control on an intra-Schengen border and you use any app with the option "avoid border control" the GPS will lead you through some small road, or another country.
As a similar situation: you have controls on other Schengen borders (LT/PL, LV/LT, LV/EST, PL/SK, F/B ...) but they are not systematic and they stop very few vehicles. Hence, there is no need to map them. However, on extra-Schengen borders (like LT/BY, PL/BY, SK/UA, H/UA, H/RO, etc.) those border control tags should always be added if they are not present.

Well, to me it would have been even better, but as I told you - the issue is that it has absolutely no influence over navigation if you use the correct tags additionally to "barrier=border control" (like hgv=designated, etc.). However, it does have an influence when you do that for the road itself. I can't check whether I had done that at that time because I am not in front of any computer, so if you want to do that, go on! :)

Ehm. I am not sure about what you refer to (because I did this like 1 year ago), but if you refer to adding access tags for "barrier=border control", they have no influence at all over navigation issues (which is why I added that legend at the time in name=*). However, definitely those tags should be added to the "highway=*" tags if they hadn't been added. I don't have the time to check that right now ;)

First of all, no Polish name (nor any name in any other language - even in transliterations to Russian or Belarusian) phonetically matches Lithuanian names. Not even one! Your politicians are the ones who, continuing the Soviet tradition, force local Poles to transliterate their names in a way that is neither correct in Lithuanian, neither in Polish! They are a direct transliteration from Russian Cyrillic from USSR times. As a comparison, In Poland, the Lithuanian minority has the right to write their own names with Lithuanian ė, š, č, ū (ą and ę are common). Pre-war Lithuania allowed multilingual names. Grow up man! It's the 21st century, and Lithuania has been independent for 28 years now! Following your logic, I would have to write "Wylnys", "Kołnas", "Panewieżis" phonetically Lithuanian language! Oh, maybe I should write "Vylnys, Coounasse, Panèviéjisse" in French, "Velnes, Counas, Paneviexis" in Spanish, "Vilnis, Counaçe, Paneviejiçe" in Portuguese to match Lithuanian phonetically? Even like that it won't ever match 100%! It is totally wrong. Unbelievable you are even stating such a nonsense!

Second, the blog you sent is 100% personal and is in Lithuanian.

Moreover, you know very well that you hadn't moved anything to "old_name:pl". You just deleted whatever I edited, independently on whether it matches your criteria or not. For such a bad will, you are the one who should have been banned as an immediate effect! You are the one who is not following the rules of good conduct of OSM at any time, which state clearly "ask first"! You are the one who is wasting other people's time!

Your excuse of not inviting me to any event despite I edit a lot in LT and I live in LT is absolutely lame. You didn't invite me just because you have a personal issue with me and you are afraid of telling that to me face to face; or to discuss certain things we may not agree on, even in a friendly way. Of you want, you can help me re-draw some roads or rivers in Latvia, Belarus and Russia, which have been drawn by someone in a very strange way, as if they were drunk, not matching the reality at all :) Your help would be more than welcome in such cases, but I don't think you will do that because constructive behavior is not your thing. You enjoy destroying, not constructing.

Strangely, you are the only one complaining about what I am adding :) Moreover, if it is not useful for you as a Lithuanian using the map in Lithuanian language, it is useful for people using the map in other languages :)
A lot of the names I had added previously were for public use because they were on wikipedia, wiki etc. :) You haven't checked anything, you just deleted it.
Ah, one more thing: I'm afraid you are the wrong person to state I make nazi remarks :)
