Hello Ahmedstreets,

Welcome to OSM and thanks for your contributions. There are a few things you need to be aware of as you contribute to OSM.

First, we use Title Case for names but not UPPER CASE.
Secondly, the addr:street is reserved for the street the place is located. Not all streets in Ghana are properly named and signed so if there isn't one, don't make it up. Additionally, the street name should also be present in OSM.
Lastly, the tag values should match the keys. For example, Adenta is a suburb of Accra, so the right address key for it is addr:suburb. addr:city doesn't fit because Adenta is not a city.

Best,
Sam

Hello Gideon, tagging a building with building=yes is enough. Don't add name=Building because the name tag is reserved for actual names (e.g. Jubilee House, Aseda House).

Hello Mohammed,
name=street is generic and incorrect to use. The name tag is used for known names, but not for the description of what an object is. One example of its correct use is the "highway=tertiary +
name=Chereponi-Wenchiki". If you add name=street to every road you map, then we won't be able to tell one street from the other.

Additionally, use Title Case for correct names, i.e capitalise the first letter of each word in a name except conjunctions (of, and, etc).

Lastly, roads should connect with other roads. Don't place the start or end node of a new road you map close to existing ones, but rather connect it to them with no gap left.

Happy mapping!

Best,
Sam

Hi Mohammed,
Places are mapped as nodes at the centre of the city/town/village, and a landuse polygon is added to cover the extent. The name of the place is not added to the landuse polygon. Therefore, the changes you made here will be reverted.

Thanks for your contributions, and keep on mapping.

Best,
Sam

Hello Mohammed,
Welcome to OSM and thanks for adding your local knowledge to the map. When there are changes in a road, edit the existing one. Adding a duplicate geometry is incorrect.

I'll fix this, but take note for future edits.

Best,
Sam

Hello Miss Blay,
Thanks for adding these buildings. As the editor may have pointed out before you saved, using "building" as a name is generic and unnecessary. Only add recognised names to buildings.

Hello Naja,
Welcome to OSM, and thanks for contributing to the map in Ghana. You are making valuable contributions.

One thing you should note is that we don't use ALL UPPER CASE values in OSM, but rather Title Case. I reviewed and corrected your earlier changeset. Please consider this for future additions and correct the ones you've already mapped.

Also, addr:city is used for cities like Accra, Kumasi, etc. Kpassa is a town so addr:town is more suitable.

Happy mapping!

Best,
Sam

Hi Adorama,
Welcome to OSM, and thanks for your valuable contributions.

OSM has a standard for recording opening hours and service times, which you can find here: opening_hours=*. You used it correctly for the police station, but not for the others.

It's also not right to add building=* tag to an amenity if you are mapping the entire land area it covers. The building tag is for buildings only.

Happy mapping!

Best,
Sam

Hello Qwajo Antwi, welcome to OSM and thanks for contributing to the map in Ghana.

There were existing buildings, albeit mapped less than an hour before you, where you added new buildings. Update the data before uploading when mapping HOT Tasks to prevent this problem.

Best,
Sam

Hi Jo442, welcome to OSM and thanks for your contribution to the map in Ghana. Please take note of existing features before mapping. Residential land use existed for the villages here, so it was not necessary to add another one around them.

Hi Anyagri,
Welcome to OpenStreetMap. If I understand your changeset comment right, did you make these changes as a practical for school work?

Hello PripetRiver, please consider buildings when mapping roads to prevent roads from crossing buildings.

Hi Rudolph, you re-aligned and moved some objects to match the Bing Maps Aerial as you can see, but you should know that there is a significant offset [1] between the imagery and data in Accra.

Secondly, your changeset comment does not tell us what you actually did. Learn about making good changeset comments here [2].

The changes you made also introduce a lot of errors so it, unfortunately, had to be reversed [3].

Thanks for your contribution, Surveyor Newton. Could you share the source of this information?

From the Sunyani West District Map [1], it appears the existing boundary was correct.

Hello, welcome to OSM. Please don't add your name/username as name of objects. That is not right.

Hello Joseph, you deleted existing hostels for no legitimate reason. Your changes have been reverted via changeset/163558200

Hello Gideon,
If you want to denote that the building you added is a house, use building=house instead. The name tag is reserved for the actual name of a building. Review these changes and remove the name=House tag from the buildings.

Hello King Cyrus, names on OSM are written in Title Case but not UPPERCASE. Revise this changeset and keep that in mind for future edits.

Hello, if this business is located in Ontario, Canada why would you add it in Twifo Praso, Ghana?
